"Reminiscent of PJ Harvey with [the] combination of strength and sensuality...Dynasty Electric establishes themselves as fine purveyors of arty indie rock."
IMPACT PRESSDynasty Electric was formed in 2003 in Brooklyn by Seth Misterka and Jenny Electrik. Originally the band performed free-form, instrumental jazz-punk, embracing electronic music following the departure of their first drummer. Jenny Electrik, originally the bass player, assumed the role of lead singer and theremin player. Seth, originally the sax player, added guitar, synth, and vocals to the mix.
The duo wrote and released their first single “Hypnotized” followed by the full-length album Black Box in 2004. They spent the following years touring the world and appearing in festivals like Summerfest, SXSW, CMJ Music Marathon, BAM’s Sounds Like Brooklyn Festival, The Brooklyn Museum, Dewey Beach Music Festival, and the Burning Man Festival. In 2009, they released the EP Burning, inspired by their appearance at Burning Man. This was followed by a U.S. tour in support of The Meat Puppets.
Also in 2009, Dynasty Electric caught the attention of entrepreneur and hip-hop mogul Damon Dash who paired the band with producer Ski Beatz to record their third record Golden Arrows. British music news outlet NME named "Radiation", a track from the record as one of the "Top Best Free MP3 Downloads" during that week, and the band opened for hip-hop artist Curren$y on a North american tour. The title track "Golden Arrows" appeared in Victoria's Secret Ad Campaign in the spring of 2012.
The group signed with New York label NoShame in the spring of 2011. Their self-titled fourth album is out June 26, 2012, and the band have announced American summer tour dates including a spot at Summerfest opening for DJ Paul Oakenfold.
